Goals
Each year the Sheboygan County
YMCA board members and staff set goals to assist kids, adults and
families who want to lead a healthy lifestyle, but struggle to do
so. In addition to supporting this population called health seekers
we commit to promoting healthy living within Sheboygan County and
collaborating with other community partners. Our YMCA participates
in the National YMCA Activate America program.
Activate America YMCAs
are committed to the following:
-
Supporting those who want to lead a healthy
lifestyle, but struggle to do so.
-
Being an integral part of our communitys
efforts to make long-lasting changes that support healthy living.
-
Collaboration through partnerships with public,
private and other nonprofit organizations.
The Sheboygan County YMCA demonstrates their
commitment to YMCA Activate America in the following ways:
-
The Sheboygan County YMCA is involving community
volunteers to partner with staff in an organizational change
project to enhance the YMCAs capacity to serve health
seekers.
-
The project is also transforming YMCA child
care sites into environments where physical activity, healthy
eating and connectedness are the norm.
-
Last September we joined over 900 YMCA's
in Septembers America
On the Move Week at the YMCA. During this week, YMCA's
host events and activities to motivate people to take small
steps to get active and increase the number of daily steps they
take.
(Call Member Services at 451-8000 x109 about joining the Sheboygan
YMCA's America on the Move group fun! Our group number is RSH80864)
-
Annually each April we join more than 1,400
other YMCAs hosting a YMCA Healthy Kids® Day. This year's
interactive special event hosted about 500 community members.
Through fun, engaging and creative activities, teen athletic
members and community health organizations encouraged children
and families to adopt behaviors that support a healthy lifestyle.
National partners who provide expert advice to YMCAs
