YMCA Core Fitness Class
10-week summer session June 16 - August 23, 2008
Age 15 & Older
YMCA members enjoy the benefit of core fitness classes at no charge. Classes may be started at any time during the session. Classes are held in the Vollrath Aerobic Room or Garton Pool (water fitness) at the Sheboygan YMCA or the Brotz Multi-Purpose Room at the Sheboygan Falls YMCA unless otherwise noted.
Participants may attend all classes at a fee. Call Membership

Ai Chi - Sheboygan YMCA, Garton Pool
Tues & Thur 10:30am - 11:00am
Ai Chi is a simple exercise and relaxation program performed in shallow water using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad movement of the arms, legs and torso. The properties of water combined with Ai Chi will improve range of motion, promote blood circulation and increase metabolism.
Arthritis Foundation
Aquatic Program- Sheboygan YMCA, Garton Pool

Participants are led by trained personnel through a series of specially designed exercises which help improve joint flexibility.
Arthritis Aquatic “PLUS” Program- Sheboygan YMCA, Garton Pool

Add a little “PLUS” to your Arthritis Class with a longer and more intense workout. This class will help add muscular strength and endurance with a minimum of injury.
Aqua Fitness- Sheboygan YMCA, Verhulst Pool
Mon - Fri 8:30am - 9:30am
Exhilarating! This class has a total body workout using the resistance of water. It incorporates both aerobic activity and toning in a one hour class. This is the most time efficient way to exercise. Class is held in the Verhulst Pool.
Back to Basics - Sheboygan Falls YMCA
Wed & Fri 10:00am - 11:00am
This group exercise program is ideal for the new exerciser or returning participant. Simple moves, modified cardiovascular intensity and extra motivation are all part of this great starter class.
Butts ‘n Guts - Sheboygan Falls YMCA
Mon & Thur 10:05am - 10:25am
Join us for this class designed to shape and sculpt your abs, glutes and back. Balance, core stabilization and muscle specific exercises will tighten and strengthen your core and the surrounding areas. Thursday class is in the Lohmann Gym.

Routines may be performed on floor, single step, double step, resist-a-ball, interval or circuit. This class includes upper and lower body conditioning with dumbbells and resistance tubes, along with an ab workout and stretching.

Join us for cardio kickboxing, the nation’s hottest workout style. From jabs and hooks to front snap & roundhouse kicks, the cardio segment is never complicated, but always challenging. The toning segment uses a series of body-sculpting basics, from squats and push-ups to abdominal strengthening.

offers a variety of support positions with a chair to improve overall functional conditioning. There are exercise modifications for all participants. Safe, fun and effective movements are done with hand weights, elastic tubing and a Silver Sneakers® ball.

Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers lots of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required and a special Silver Sneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. Class is held in the Garton Pool.

Move your body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.
